BONEY M - DADDY COOL

"Daddy Cool" είναι ένα τραγούδι που γράφτηκε για την Ευρωπαϊκή  disco πάντα τους Boney M.και περιελήφθηκε στο πρώτο Άλμπουμ τους το Take The Heat Off Me.Επίσης ήταν hit το 1976 και σταθμός στη disco μουσική,ως και το πρώτο hit των  Boney M. στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Το τραγούδι αυτό ήταν το δεύτερο single των  Boney M.το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε το Μάϊο του 1976 χωρίς να υπάρξει ποιαδήποτε σημαντική επίδραση στην αρχή!Αυτό γινόταν μέχρι μια εντυπωσιακή παράσταση στην εκπομπή της τηλεόρασης Musikladen το Σεπτέμβριο όπου το single έγινε hit και σκαρφάλωσε στην κορυφή των περισσότερων Ευρωπαϊκών charts.Το τραγούδι έφτασε στην 6η θέση στα charts του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου και στο νούμερο 65 του Billboard Hot 100 στις ΗΠΑ.Το single επίσης έφτασε στις πρώτες θέσεις των Γερμανικών charts και την 20η θέση στο Καναδά.Αυτό απέδειξε την μεγαλύτερη Ευρωπαϊκή εξέλιξη της μπάντας.

 "Daddy Cool" ήταν  μια ασυνήθιστη καινοτόμα ηχογράφηση, κρουστά intro από τον παραγωγό Frank Farian δημιοργώντας ρυθμό τικ-τικ-τικς και παίζοντας  με τα δόντια του

με ένα μολύβι.Ακούγεται η βαθιά Χαρακτηριστική φωνή τουFrank Farian που τραγουδά "She's crazy like a fool..."(οπτικά εκτελείται από το χορευτή Bobby Farrell) και υποστηρίζεται από τις Λαμπρές φωνές της Liz Mitchell και Marcia Barrett:"...what about it Daddy Cool".Το μπάσο riff "κλωτσάει" και βασίζεται στο οργανικό θέμα που ακολουθείται από την επαναλαμβανόμενη, φυτώριο ομοιοκαταληξία σαν στίχο και τη  χορωδία δύο φορές.

Το τραγούδι  κάνει "διαλείματα"  με  ένα προφορικό πέρασμα από  τον Farian προτού να πάει πίσω στο riff μπάσο και να επαναλαμβάνει το στίχο και η χορωδία για τελευταία φορά. Με ελαφρώς υπνωτικό, επαναλαμβανόμενες bassline και έγχορδα του και ομοίως επαναλαμβανόμενες, φωτεινά γυναικεία φωνητικά,με τη πίστα να είναι πολύ χαρακτηριστική από τα μέσα της δεκαετίας του εβδομήντα "Munich disco".

• Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε από τον Λάκη Tzordaneli το 1979 , στα ελληνικά με τον τίτλο " Πεσ μου που πότε"
• Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε από τον καλιτέχνη του Μόντρεαλ  QRN το 1999και κυκλοφόρησε ως μια βιομηχανική - κιτς εκδοχή τόσο στο ραδιόφωνο και στη δεύτερη έκδοση της συλλογής disco Studio 54.
•    Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε επίσης από τους Placebo και το παρουσίσαν στην σπέσιαλ έκδοσητους με μπόνους ένα δίσκο στο Άλμπουμ τους  Sleeping with Ghosts το 2003.Η κιθάρα βασίστηκε στην ερμηνεία που χρησιμοποιήθηκε ένα ενδιαφέρον μείγμα φωνητικών δειγμάτων από την αρχική έκδοση και στα νέα  φωνητικά από τον τραγουδιστή της μπάντας Brian Molko .
•   Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε επίσης από τους Swedish child pop duo Peaches το 2004.
• Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε από τους  Mini-Pops στο ομότιτλο Άλμπουμ το1981.
• Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε επίσης απο το τρίο από τη Λετονία τους Melo-M με τα χαρακτηριστικά φωνητικά του τραγουδιστή των Πρώτων  Boney M. τον Maizie Williams στο Άλμπουμ Singalongs το 2007.
• Το τραγούδι καλύφθηκε επίσης απο τους Massalia Dj's, Erwan & Rubra με τα χαρακτηριστικά φωνητικά απότον γαλλικής καταγωγής τραγουδιστή των Boney M.Το τραγούδι έγινε remix το  από έναν από τα καλύτερα εμπορικά electro -house παραγωγούς στην Poland - Zoot.

 "Daddy Cool" is a song recorded by euro disco band Boney M. and included on their debut album Take The Heat Off Me. It was a 1976 hit and a staple in disco music and Boney M.'s first UK hit

It was the second Boney M. single, released in May 1976 without making any major impact at first. It wasn't until a spectacular performance on the Musikladen TV show in September that the single became a hit, topping most European charts. It reached number six in the UK charts and number 65 in the United States Billboard Hot 100. The single also topped the German charts and reaching the Top 20 in Canada. It proved to be the major European breakthrough of the band.

"Daddy Cool" was a novelty gimmick record with an unusual, percussive intro by producer Frank Farian doing rhythmic tic-tic-tics and playing on his teeth with a pencil. Frank Farian's characteristic deep voice sings: "She's crazy like a fool..." ("visually" performed by dancer Bobby Farrell) and is answered by the bright voices of Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett: "...what about it Daddy Cool". The bass riff kicks in and builds to the instrumental theme followed by the repetitive, nursery rhyme-like verse and chorus twice.

The song breaks-down into a spoken passage by Farian before it goes back into the bass riff and repeats the verse and chorus for the last time. With its slightly hypnotic, repetitive bassline and strings and likewise repetitive, bright female vocals, the track is highly typical of mid-seventies "Munich disco".

• The song was covered by Lakis Tzordaneli in 1979, in Greek under the title "Pes mou pote pou".
• The song was covered by Montreal artist QRN in 1999 and released as an industrial-kitsch version both on radio and on the second volume of the Studio 54 disco compilation.
• The song was also covered by Placebo and appeared on the bonus disc of their special edition release of the album Sleeping with Ghosts in 2003. This guitar based interpretation interestingly used a mix of vocal samples from the original version and new vocals by the band's singer Brian Molko.
• The song was also covered by Swedish child pop duo Peaches in 2004.
• It was covered by the Mini-Pops on their self-titled album in 1981.
• The song was also covered by Latvian trio Melo-M featuring vocals by original Boney M. singer Maizie Williams on their 2007 album Singalongs.^[1]
• The song was also covered by Massalia Dj's, Erwan & Rubra featuring vocals by Original Boney M singer and French vocalist. The song was remixed by one of the best commercial electro-house producers in Poland - Zoot.
